Davis Schools fundraising tops $1.77 million

Living in Davis

The Davis Schools Foundation has been working very hard for the past few months to raise money for an expected shortfall in funding for the next school year.  The Davis Joint Unified School District had anticipated that they could possibly need to lay off 110 teachers.  Through extensive fundraising and support throughout the Davis community as of Friday, May 16th, $1.77 million dollars was raised to buy back teachers and programs for Davis schools.  Additionally, cuts to the state budget may hit school funding less than was expected.  The Davis Schools Foundation is still accepting donations and additional monies will help keep the schools running at levels that people have come to expect in Davis.
